Personally came before me, a Clerk in and for aforesaid County and State, George Imes - 51 years of age, who resides at Pennsylvania Furnace in this county and whose P.O. address is Argillite - this county persons of lawful age, who being duly sworn, declare in relation to the aforesaid case as follows: 1. That for 3 years immediately preceding his 2. original enlistment he resided at Hecla (Hecia ?) Furnace 3. in Lawrence County State of Ohio 4. That since his final discharge from the service 5. he has resided at Hecla Furnace till 1868 - 6. Raccoon furnace, Greenup Co -Ky till 1874 and 7. at Pennsylvania Furnace same County and 8. State till the present time. 9. That his occupation from 1857 up to the 10. time of his original enlistment was Charcoal 11. making. That his occupation from date of final 12. discharge up to the present has been the making 13. and hauling of charcoal. That in 1863 in Janr 14. at or near Warrenton, VA he contracted Rheu 15. matism. In July 1863 at Alexandria VA he 16. contracted piles. In February 1864 at Warrenton VA 17. he contracted lung disease and from these several 18. ailments he has been suffering off and on ever 19. since. 20. That in 1864 he was treated in the field hospital in the 21. Army square in Washington city that he remained 22. in the hospital till 1865 when he was sent home. 23. That he does not know the name of the physican that 24. attended on him. 25. After returning home he was treated by Dr. Wilson 26. of Ironton - Lawrence County - Ohio. Then by Dr. 27. Long of same place. Then by Dr. C. M. Brammer 28. of Greenup County Ky. Then by Dr. Lellards of 29. Humwell (?), Greenup County Ky 30. That he has suffered from Lung disease, Rheumatism 31. and Piles ever since he returned from the service that 32. he has been treated by the several physicians for these 33. same diseases. X 34. X That his condition would improve some 35. times and he would work steadily for a period 36. lasting a week sometimes two weeks and 37. sometimes even a month, that then he would 38. have a relapse and be laid up for longer 39. or shorter periods. - That there has not been 40. a year since his return from the service 41. where he has not been under medical treatment 42. and where he has not been debarred from 43. manual labor from his disabilities for longer 44. or shorter periods. 45. That when he was able, he has been making 46. or hauling charcoal. That he cannot give dates 47. when he quit work nor when he resumed 48. work. Tht he would work till he would get 49. down, recruit up under medical treatment 50. till he could get around and that then he would 51. go to work again.
